 CONVEYING MORTAL REMAINS OF A GHANAIAN CITIZEN TO GHANA

Individuals who wish to repatriate the mortal remains of a deceased Ghanaian citizen to Ghana can apply for the requisite documentation from either the Ghana High Commission, Ottawa or Ghana Consulate-General, Toronto.

 

GENERAL METHODS OF REPATRIATION OF A DEAD BODY TO GHANA

  • Embalming by Canada standard method
  • Use of Hermetically sealed casket
  • Use of all wood outer shipping container

 

DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED FOR AUTHENTICATION (FEE $120.00)

  • Certified copy of death certificate
  • Locally issued burial and /or transit permit
  • Embalmers’ (non-contagious) affidavit
  • Non-contagious disease letter from local health authority
  • Photocopy of passport of the deceased
  • Documents mailed should include a self-addressed, trackable, and stamped return envelope

 

CREMATED REMAINS

  • Certified copy of the death certificate
  • Cremation certificate
  • Hermetically sealed container

 

Note: Only original copies of documents must be submitted

PS: CASH is not accepted under any circumstance. All Consular fees are to be paid in MONEY ORDER or BANKER’S DRAFT ONLY, made payable to “Ghana High Commission”. CONSULAR FEES ARE NOT REFUNDABLE.
